The ability to passively investigate subsurface conditions on a site prior to any construction works has become a hugely beneficial option, eliminating risk to both compromising any ongoing earthworks and the potential for human injury or in some cases fatality.
At UnEarthed, we execute geophysical surveys with the use of (EML) Radio Detection and GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar), coupled with “As Built” records to complete a thorough subsurface investigation to PAS128 specification, and to provide a full set of reports tailored to a level meeting specific client needs in accordance with a defined industry standard. This level of standard conforms to PAS128, which for utility surveys is essential to produce a thorough record of all present services through multiple forms of substantiation and detection.
The use of GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) as a non-intrusive investigative technique has huge applications in the structural and environmental sector, from location of buried bunkers, old drainage systems and burial sites to determination of void space in retaining walls and concrete pads to account for the extent of potential remediation works. In the construction sector, GRP can be used to locate structural beams, map underfloor heating routes and investigate the potential for subsidence features in buildings. At UnEarthed, we can assist with all aspects of passive investigation to locate and map features of concern and value.
Depending on the complexity of the investigation and target requirements, an initial assessment of findings can be discussed at the time of survey, especially when marking out structural and rebar investigations. However, in most cases a thorough analysis of raw data will be carried out by the UnEarthed team, where target depths, extent and cross referencing of findings will be built up to form a CAD model to present to the client, often in conjunction with a report.
